  • Burning sensation/pain during urination
  •  Frequent and urgency to urinate
  • Pain or pressure mainly in the lower abdomen
  • The presence of cloudy, dark, or bloody urine
  • Urine has a strong smell
  • Fever with chills(mostly in severe cases)
  • Feeling of complete voiding

Causes and Risk Factors

  • UTI can happen due to bacterial infections. Escherichia coli (E.coli)is considered to be the most common bacterial agent of UTIs.
  • Poor hygiene practices can also lead to UTIs.Improper wiping or a lack of personal hygiene can bring bacteria to the urinary tract.
  • Dehydration can be a risk factor. Not drinking enough fluid can also increase UTI risk.
  • Sexual intercourse can introduce bacteria into the urinary tract.
  • Individuals with a weakened immune system are also at risk of UTIs.Several chronic conditions, like diabetes and liver diseases, can increase susceptibility to such infections.
